Jenna Deane, the creator of Geo Garden Club, emphasized that this project is about far more than gardening. At the heart of her work is a belief that people are meant to live in stronger communities, sharing resources, supporting one another, and building deeper relationships with both the people and environment around them. Geo Garden Club reflects that vision by creating a space where sustainability feels approachable, collaborative, and deeply human rather than performative or overwhelming.

Talking with Jenna Deane, the creator of Geo Garden Club, it became clear pretty quickly that this project is about far more than gardening.
Throughout our conversation, Jenna spoke a lot about the importance of reconnecting people with nature early in life. She emphasized how hands-on experiences like school gardens, outdoor clubs, and community growing spaces can help kids develop confidence, curiosity, and a healthier relationship with the natural world. For her, sustainability education is not just about teaching environmental responsibility, but about creating spaces where people feel grounded, connected, and capable of adapting to the world around them.
Jenna also spoke passionately about the Salish Sea region and the role that local outdoor spaces play in shaping community. Whether it’s spending time near the water, exploring Larrabee State Park, or simply growing food in your own backyard, she believes these experiences help people slow down and reconnect with each other. That perspective is woven throughout Geo Garden Club, a project that encourages people not only to grow food, but to grow stronger communities alongside it.
