One of the most highly rated dive-center resorts in the world, with an accompanying nonprofit organization, is set out to teach the joys of scuba diving and help conserve local marine life. For their conservation work, Scuba Junkie has been awarded Green Fin’s Zero Impact Award (2026), as well as being awarded 'Best Scuba Diving Dive Centre or Resort in the World for 2020' in Dive Magazine's annual Travel Awards.
Rachel Thompson
Former criminal defense lawyer turned conservationist and professional diver, Rachel works with Scuba Junkie as a dive instructor and general manager, teaching diving while caring for the local environment. In this episode, we learn Rachel’s story of personal transformation and her mission to fight the environmental challenges facing the small Island of Mabul.
